Effect on the Snoqualmie River

An important issue concerning the test will be to determine the effect that the pumping will have on the aquifer’s natural discharge to the river.

The model is able to help with this assessment, as the relationship between the aquifer and river was included in the model construction.

The model simulation predicted that the reduction in baseflow to the Middle Fork (along a 2-mile reach either side of the test well) will be less than 0.25 cfs, or 110 gpm. The test will discharge at a rate of 1,000 gpm, so the river should see a net increase of 890 gpm.
